Request for Proposals: LoveBFT

Posted on

Downtown Bellefonte Inc., an organization dedicated to the economic growth and vitality of Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, seeks an individual or company to produce a physical representation of “LoveBFT.”

Over the course of the last two years, Downtown Bellefonte Inc. has worked with other Bellefonte organizations and businesses to utilize the social media hashtag #LoveBFT to promote Bellefonte as a great place to live, to visit, and to do business on social media. In 2020, the LoveBFT campaign was expanded to include heart-themed Bellefonte t-shirts, tote bags for our Shop Small Crawl initiative, and more.

Now, Downtown Bellefonte Inc. will take the LoveBFT campaign one step further with LoveBFT art installations and selfie backdrops throughout town. These temporary displays will be moved throughout town and used during events so that residents and visitors alike are encouraged not only to stop and take photos in new and interesting spots around town, but are also encouraged to post about Bellefonte using the #LoveBFT hashtag during events. The more people who talk about Bellefonte, the better! These installations will help cultivate community pride among residents, and will also help to create “Instagrammable moments” for tourists in the area.

Downtown Bellefonte Inc. has been awarded a grant for the first LoveBFT installation to be produced and is seeking proposals for its creation. Proposals must include:

  1. A concept design by the artist representing the project
  2. Cost of materials, including those needed to build the moveable piece Note: must be able to be moved with everyday tools, like a pickup truck.
  3. Artist fees
  4. Proposed dimensions of installation and execution timeline
  5. Description of preservation of the installation (i.e., how will it be weather resistant?)
  6. A short bio of the artist(s)

Proposals are due August 1, 2021, and should be emailed to Ellen Matis, Board President, at Proposals will be reviewed at Downtown Bellefonte Inc.’s August 10, 2021, Board of Directors meeting, after which the accepted proposal will be notified. All proposals are subject to review and approval by Bellefonte Borough Council before proceeding with construction.
